Deep Wells
A deep well can be for residential or commercial purposes to supply irrigation or drinking water. A deep well must be installed with a well drilling rig. The well casing is usually made of black steel, but can also be PVC or galvanized steel. The casing is driven into the ground and is seated into the rock formation. Once the well casing is properly seated, an open hole is drilled until there is enough water to supply the pump.
Water Works, Inc. uses a Modern Air Combination Rotary Rig. This rig allows us to test the amount and quality of water as we drill, conserving the time needed to complete drilling.
We can complete most deep wells in one day.
EDB Wells
In some areas the ground water is contaminated with Ethylene Dibromide (EDB.) EDB is a man-made chemical that was manufactured in the United States for more than 70 years. EDB was commonly used on agricultural crops to kill pests. EDB was also used for leaded gasoline. Subsequently, the chemical made its way into the ground water which contaminated water wells. Agricultural EDB use was discontinued in 1984.
Drinking supply and irrigation supply wells drilled inside an EDB area will require that special safety conditions are met. The well must be properly constructed to meet the criteria set forth by the permitting district. Additional EDB water testing and permitting requirements are also necessary to ensure water safety. We have extensive experience in constructing and permitting EDB wells.
Agricultural wells
In Florida, agricultural wells are most used for groves, berry fields, sports fields, and golf courses. These wells are typically between 6-inches and 16-inches in diameter. Agricultural wells require special permits from the Water Management District.
PUBLIC SUPPLY WELLS
When a commercial establishment cannot connect to a public water source, a deep well can be used for drinking water. Special requirements, testing, and permitting are required. We have extensive experience in public supply wells with advanced knowledge of the specifications needed to pass inspection.
